Santo Domingo.- The power company AES Andres, of the group AES Dominicana, won the “National Industry Prize for Environmental Management” and a special mention in the category “National Large Industry Prize for Quality” in Dominican Republic’s 12th annual Industrial Excellence Awards held Wednesday night.
“This is a recognition to all our people of the group AES Dominicana which is committed with adherence to the best practices, in the environment as well as with operational excellence in our policies and to the corporate philosophy based on our values and this fills us with deep pride,” said AES Dominican president Marco De Rosa.
He said he values the Prize for Excellence in Management since the National Industry has high standards of measure to award the companies. “I feel that this type of recognition serves to motivate the country’s entire industries to improve every day and to comply with the laws and regulations in effect, in the environmental aspect and in the management and quality processes as well.
AES Andres recently certified its Integrated Quality and Atmosphere Management System for Electricity Generation from Natural Gas, in compliance with norms ISO 9001:2008 and 14001:2004.
The AES Andres power plant supplies around 18% of all the energy routed through in National Interconnected Electric System (SENI), using natural gas, the most environment-friendly of all fossil fuels the country uses for energy.
